I paid GEM $956.41 for a sewer backup/main line visit. GEM’s own invoice says the line could not be properly cleared because the snake kept going up the house-trap riser or back toward the house. Despite that, I was charged the full amount. I was then given estimates from about $8,300 to almost $13,000 and told 50% of the prior charge would only be credited if I approved the larger job. I emailed asking for a review, camera footage, and a fair standalone refund/credit, but have not received a response. Very disappointing experience.

Michael from Gem Plumbing was here today to do an annual check on our central air conditioning system and mini-split system. He did a thorough check of all the components inside and outside the home. He is very knowledgeable and explained everything very clearly as to what he found and observed on our systems. This service was covered under our maintenance plan with Gem so there was no charge for today. Michael is a really friendly and personable guy and he did a great job at our home.

I was told when I called the plumber would call me with a quote 45 minutes ahead instead I got the quote here to replace an outdoor spigot for 760 dollars which I know to be exceptionally high. I refused but still had to pay 149 dollars trip charge. I feel totally ripped off as they were supposed to call me with quote before getting here. I own 6 houses and now know never to call GEM

Gem has always been my lifesaver and yesterday they came through again. When GEM came yesterday for the annual boiler cleaning they discovered that my boiler was leaking carbon monoxide gas. It had not been leaking the year before so carbon monoxide leaking from your burner. It’s like a tire that’s going flat in the air is coming out. It only gets worse. They gave me an estimate on replacing it, I did some research and they said that they couldn’t install it the next day. The price was in line with everything I had researched and the Bernar rated very high on Trustpilot as did the warranty. Having worked with GEM before, I trust them and I made the deal. Today two men arrived two more came then the Electrician.They got the old burner out they got the new burner installed. They cleaned up the basement and I now have heat and no carbon monoxide.Thanks for being there again GEM.

Can't say I'll be calling them again, at least not for electric service. I was quoted 7,800 for ane emergency repair. The quote did not include any detail or description of the work to be done, but it sure did include three pages of legal disclosures. I ended up paying someone else 3,500 to do the work.

Besides the fact they were a day late, after assessing the issue which I opted not fix, they left the gas valve open, filling my basement with natural gas which I am now trying to air out. Joe, the service person who came to fix our water heater, was amazing. Calm, expert, efficient and best of all very interested in showing me (and teaching me about) what was going on. It's really important to be knowledgeable about your own home. The problem has been fixed and I also know what to look out for in the upcoming months and years. The service (and parts) weren't cheap. Phew. But I have a good sense that the good service that Joe provided will ultimately save us money in the long run as we care for our system.

Mr. Liu and his GEM in training arrived on time and with phone calls that let us know their efforts were booked after our appointment. But…they took all the time they needed to assess what could have been a messy reinstall of a bath light/exhaust fan in a 1955 house. Although adequately warned that something other than pretty could happen, they made surgical cuts to enlarge the ceiling hole with minimal degradation of the ceiling. Despite the number of sawzall blades they’d used, wenwere all smiling when we turned the fan on for the first time. Another successful visit by the GEMs.n(As always, my only hesitation in using GEM for future projects is the pricing process.)
