I wish I could give negative number of stars. I am complaining to the state of new Hampshire.
Recently I had an issue with the pressure relief valve installed on my well pressure tank. It started to leak. I called for an appointment and was told that the fee for the visit was $120 before any work was done.
The next day Jim arrived in the mid-afternoon. I showed him the tank, pressure switch and relief valve. He worked on a tablet pc for a minute and then told me it would cost $500 just to diagnose the issue. That was in addition to the $120 for showing up.
I knew the issue. The possible problems were the tank, switch and valve.
I told him there was no way I would pay $500 for diagnosis. Out of curiosity I asked how much to replace all the parts, Tank, Tee, Switch, Pressure relief valve, and pressure gauge.
He came back with a price of $5001.00. I was incredulous. I knew that all the parts were under $600. I was expecting an estimate of $1000.
I said no way and paid him the $120 for showing up.
I went to F.W Webb, purchased all the parts for $550, and did the job in three hours.
Both the cost to diagnose and replace the components were criminally high. There is now way that can be justified.
Never do business with Bill Trombly \ Sanford. Especially if you are not knowledgeable about the systems you need help with
This review is a reminder to future me because I've made the mistake of hiring Bill Trombly Plumbing twice now.
Do not ask this company to help with small jobs.
I paid $120 for the privilege of an unprepared tech to visit my house, tell me that they would not do the job, promise they would send me a quote for the actual job, and leave after 20 minutes.
After a week of radio silence, I called the office to ask about the quote, which ended up being almost $2500 for a job whose parts would cost maybe $300 and would take maybe a few hours of labor.
So future me, when you google, "Plumber Manchester, NH", seriously, don't work with these guys just because they show up near the top of the search listings.

Don't call this company if you need a generator serviced. We hired them when our whole house generator hadn't run for a couple years and the technician they sent out had no idea what he was doing. He spent 4 hours on the phone with the manufacturer without performing any real work and when he was done he stated that the generator was dead and needed to be replaced. We were then contacted but a sales person to set up an appointment to get an estimate for a new generator. In the meantime we received a bill for 4 hours. When the estimator arrived, we complained about the bill and he stated that all they could do is credit that amount if we purchase a new one (estimate was ~$15,000).
I ended up calling New Hampshire Generator a week later and they had it fixed in 2 hours (read my review of NH Generator for more details). After watching the techs from both companies in action, it was obvious that the Bill Twombly tech was not qualified to work on generators. He new nothing about small engines and you need an engine mechanic to repair generators that won't run. How do you justify billing someone for work when you send out an unqualified tech? Maybe you don't need to know anything about engines when you install them, but don't tell customers you can repair them and then send out an electrician (or whatever he was).
Guess which company I will never hire in the future?
PS: After reading other negative reviews that Mr. Twombly responded to, I'm looking forward to hearing some lame excuse from him on why it's my fault the technician didn't do his job. And no Mr. Twombly, you won't find my name in your system because my girlfriend made the phone call and wrote the check therefore you can't use that as an excuse either. I was standing next to her when she made the call and we made it very clear that the engine wouldn't start - we weren't vague in any way. This occurred a few years back, but if you really want to put your money where you mouth is, please reach out to me and offer to reimburse me for the 4 hours of work your tech did *not* perform. Perhaps I'll consider removing this review.
If you ask why I'm posting this review years later, the answer is simple. NH Generator performed maintenance on our generator today and I felt it was to time to write a review for them because they have been such a great company to work with. Every time they visit it reminds me of the poor experience I had with your company and I would be remiss if I didn't also write a review of that experience.

Edited - In response to the businesses response….my name was on the credit card. I had originally posted a lesser fee than was actually charged and I’ve updated the fee to be called the same as on the invoice: Was charged $115 for a “trip charge” to fix a minor leak in shower and to determine what was causing a leak at outside water faucet. Some screws were tightened on the area where water is turned on and we were left with advice to caulk (ourselves) around that….really plumber? The shower leak was supposedly fixed but after one day - it is not (after paying $250 total for the tightening of some screws). Also, was told to call back in the spring to fix the outside faucet leak (was a sunny day). Received communication that we’d need to pay the $115 “trip charge” AGAIN for them to come back for the repair we already reported. The plumber was very nice. But this is bad business.
Brent, I think you have the wrong company. We don't have anyone with your name on our dispatch and the amount you quoted isn't something we charge. We don't have a "consultation" fee. Are you sure you use "BILL" Trombly?

I originally called for an appointment quite some time ago. They call three days before the appointment and let me know that the gentleman was not going to be in that day. ( not a problem let’s reschedule) they let me know he couldn’t come back out for another 60 days. Now I’m stuck having to find another company or wait another 57 days to potentially be in this same situation.
s this is a “new to us property” it was important to get the work done before the bulk of the heating season. Now we are stuck at the 11th hour trying to find a new contractor.
If you are looking to get the run around , and ultimately get your job pushed back for months. This is the place.
Added Edit: There was no discussion with me of emergencies needing higher priority…So, not only will you get the run around with this company , you’ll be lied to about your appointment. No need to give an apology, if this is how you handled the appointment, you clearly did me a favor.
I am sorry that we didn't meet your expectations. Unfortunately sometimes appointments get rescheduled due to customers having no heats in their homes. As this was a Car Wash of some type we needed to reschedule to take care of the emergencies. We tried to give you as much of a notice as we could. The Trombly team did an outstanding job installing a 5-head/1-condensor Daikin mini split system at my home. Not only are they outright professionals, but they are also very kind individuals. The way in which they cleverly planned and executed the lines via the attic made for minimal covered lines on the exterior; and those on the exterior ran parallel straight down a corner gutter drain, directly to the one outside unit parked out back. Brilliant! Nobody can beat the Daikin 12 yr warranty... I highly recommend Trombly and the Daikin product they sell. These units do a great job heating!

I set up an emergency/no heat call today with Zach for a very simple gas exhaust venting repair. We agreed on the emergency rate and he said he would be at the location in about an hour and would update as soon as he was on the way after finishing the job he was on. He updated to tell me that a higher priority call had come in from someone on the Trombly subscription of some sort. He canceled our appointment and there was nothing I could do about it because I could not get on said subscription while the office was closed, not that it would have kept my place in line I’m sure.
I am extremely disappointed and proportionately angry. If you set up an emergency (or any) appointment, you keep your word. It would be one thing if you were delayed by external circumstances, but to choose to break your word in order to take a later call is unacceptable.

They installed new Trane furnace, and zoning control board! Their technician are good, but the Customer services is terrible! They did not remind you schedule for maintenance even you paid for that, and they void the 2 years warranty! And we just have the problems before 2 years!
I'm sorry but we don't have any customer with the name Swann Bryant but a customer named Le, Hung just cancel for this reason. If this is Le, Hung comments I am sorry that you feel this way. When we did the original installation in 2021 we gave you a separate Warranty Sheet explaining everything. Then our systems emails and texts all our customers when they are due for maintenance and if we don't get a response for those we follow up with a phone call. Our records show that we emailed and texted (with the information that was given to us in 2021) you on 05/03/2022, 06/02/2022 with a phone call on 07/15/22. Then we emailed and texted again on 04/02/2023 and 05/02/23. We then talked to you on 7/19/23 and offered to do the maintenance (cleaning) at no charge even though it was year late, you refused. Again I am very sorry that we didn't met your expectation we tried our best to communicate with you as we do with all our customers. This is a great reminder to everyone that your home heating and AC system needs to be maintain once a year and if you don't see an email or text from us just call us, we will take care of you.

Company provided updates via text and email on arrival- arrived in the window and fixed the problem. Dave was helpful, nice and explained things. My only comment is not about Dave but with your business model. Wish you didn’t charge a customer two $115 fees to arrive due to two different people doing work since you separate your services, I believe one charge should be waived if I am giving you business for two items. What I needed done was simple and believe one visit was needed. The first guy tried to fix the second issue to save the second visit but couldn’t.

Had a mini split (ductless AC) installed by Trombly because of their reputation. I live in a Cape for a house. Only gripe I had with the install was that when they punched the main hole in the back by where the condensor is, they also punched anothe hole on the side of the house. This hole was going to feed the main head on the first floor. The distance between the 2 holes is about 10 feet. I asked why they couldn't have run the lines on the outside of the house. Their reply was they didn't have enough material with them. They had enough material to cover the lines that went to the second floor. From a home owners perspective, that was one extra hole that didn't need to be in the house. The main hole on the back could have then been half the size. This is something that potential future customers should discuss with Trombly before starting any new installs.

Bill T did a new/replacement central air install. I worked with Brian in sales who was terrific - answered all questions, was thorough, and most importantly was responsive, even when I made contact with him a few times after the installation for a minor problem, which wasn’t really in his wheelhouse. Chris, along with an apprentice, were the installers. Can’t say enough good things about Chris. Pleasant, professional and to quote an old sailor saying, you could tell he “had all his s?!$ in one sock.” For the unfamiliar - he knew his “stuff.” The install went well - neatly done. I did have a minor issue that I discovered later in which I had some leakage around some of the new duct-work. They sent out Tyler. I was shocked that Bill T had not one, but at least two technicians who were pleasant, polite, spent time answering my questions, did a nice job, were not in a rush, and knew their stuff. I have been with a well-known and popular Bedford HVAC company but will now switch. Well-done Bill T and Thank You!

Early on a Tues morning, found I had a sewer backup, fun! Called Rotorooter and Bill Trombly. Trombly already had a crew in the area, so they made it within an hour! It was a two man crew, Dave and Dylan. They quickly got the pipe to flow with one of the rotating snake heads, and then did it again 3 times with different cutter to make sure it was cleared! It was 80' down the line towards the street, and they were at it for the good part of 3 hours, that and doing a TV inspection. Great crew and thorough. Also a little less expensive than RR who I had for a different drain line, same issue about 5 years back. They will be my first call if this happens again. I'm using a root inhibitor now, so hope I don't need to call them! Thanks Dave and Dylan!

This was a plumbing repair... no water coming from the hot water faucets. Keith diagnosed a problem wth my thermal expasion tank. He explained the problem, replaced the tank and left the workspace nice and clean....all within an hour. He provided terrific customer service! Thanks, Keith!
