Quoted over seven hundred dollars to clear clogged drain even though they did not complete the job I paid them just to make them go away. At the time of service, we provided an estimate to clear the drain and also discussed hydro jetting as the recommended next step due to significant root intrusion in the line. As is our standard practice, the cost of the initial cabling is typically credited toward the hydro jetting service if you choose to proceed.
Because of the condition of the line, cabling alone was not a complete solution, which is why additional work was recommended. We apologize if there was any breakdown in communication regarding the follow-up quote, as that is not the experience we aim to provide.

I am a new home owner and bought my house 3 months ago. This past weekend, my tub and toilet stopped draining. I called Mr. Rooter and they were able to get someone out the same day to take a look. Unfortunately, they incorrectly diagnosed the problem and then were going to charge me an outrageous amount. I also specifically went with this company because I was told they could also work on septic tanks. The tech clearly had no knowledge of septic tanks whatsoever, which is why he incorrectly diagnosed the problem. I ended up going with a different company, who charged me $600 less than what Mr. Rooter quoted me and was actually able to look at my septic tank. If you are a house with a septic tank, save yourself the time and money and find a different company.

We’re disappointed to read your review, as it does not accurately reflect what occurred during the visit.
When our technician arrived, the bathroom had already drained. After flushing the toilet multiple times, it was clearly draining toward the main cleanout. However, once the cleanout was opened, water was present in the line. With the septic tank located approximately 10 feet from the home, this indicated a blockage or backup between the house and the tank.
Based on those findings, we provided pricing for the next appropriate diagnostic step, which was to remove the toilet and cable the line. We also discussed that the septic tank would likely need to be exposed to properly inspect the inlet and confirm whether the issue was within the line or at the tank itself. Without exposing the tank, no company can definitively determine the condition of the inlet or the tank level.
You were informed of the $64.80 dispatch fee at the time of scheduling, and that was the only amount charged. No additional work was performed. We also encouraged you to call around for additional quotes if you preferred, as well as to contact the previous owner and/or find out which company last serviced the septic system so you could obtain service history. You mentioned the system had not been inspected prior to purchase, which makes that information especially important.
Our technician followed standard plumbing diagnostic procedures based on the conditions present at the time of service. While we understand you chose another company, the recommendations and pricing were based on what was observed during the visit — not guesswork.
We did attempt to contact you after seeing this review to better understand your concerns but have not received a response. If you would like to discuss this further, we’re happy to speak with you directly.

Had a sewer line blockage causing waste water to back up into our basement wash basin. An emergency visit was scheduled and technician arrived sooner than expected. Technician Kevin isolated the issue to the main sewer line, roughly 50ft from the house, and was able to remove the blockage. Paid $216 for them to come out on Jan 1st for frozen pipes for my grandpa. They said oh, the pipes are warm, your water must be turned off. They never checked the right part. We had someone else come out and check it the next day and they said the pipes are frozen. I called Mr. Rooter back and they sent the same technician that said nothing was wrong for him to turn around and say oh it needs a new heating plug which is around $4 but have a quote for $1900. That’s ridiculous how they try to get over on people. Be warned about, Austin Wardoff.

When we were dispatched on January 1st, our emergency service fee of $200 + tax was explained and approved prior to arrival, as this was a holiday call. Upon inspection, our technician checked the water lines in two locations underneath the trailer and did not find frozen pipes at that time. While no water was running in the home, the lines inspected were not frozen during our evaluation.
We returned on January 3rd to reassess the situation. During that visit, we provided pricing to remove and replace the existing heat tape system. The quote reflects the labor, materials, and proper installation required to complete the repair safely and up to standard — not just the cost of an individual component. The repair was declined at that time.
We take pride in providing transparent pricing and thorough evaluations, and we do not mislead or take advantage of customers. If you would like to discuss the visit further, we welcome you to contact our office directly.

I hired your company to clear my main sewer line, but the technician was unwilling to clean the entire line. Two months later, I had to call another service, and they removed a massive clog—approximately 12" long and 3" thick—that your technician completely missed. There is no way a blockage of that size developed in just two months.
Despite this, I was charged $900 for work that had to be redone. The second company charged only a third of that amount and also ran a camera all the way to the street, clearly showing the true location of the problem—nowhere near where your technician claimed it was.
Overall, I’m extremely disappointed with the service I received.

After reviewing the service notes from your visit, our technician found that your sewer line was backed up and discovered what appeared to be a defective section of pipe approximately 10 feet from the front cleanout. He cleared the line at no charge and performed a camera inspection, but the damaged portion of pipe prevented the camera from passing through. Because of this structural issue, we were unable to guarantee how the line would perform going forward.
That said, we never want a customer to feel dissatisfied or unsupported. We would appreciate the opportunity to review your experience in more detail and see how we can make this right.

At first I was really happy with the fast response and their willingness to look at my hot tub to fix it when no one else would even look at it. I paid extra for them to come over the weekend and I specifically asked what if they can’t do it? They said the only way they wouldn’t be able to do it the same day was if they had to buy a part. I then waited several weeks before they came back to fix the hot tub since they did have to buy a part. They came during the week instead of the weekend. I specifically paid extra for the weekend because it’s really disruptive to my work for them to come during the week. They said more parts had to be ordered and came back a third time during the week. The tech then told me it couldn’t be done. I had already paid in full for the service. They installed my dishwasher and put in a shower head for me. This essentially cost me close to $1500 as they are refusing to refund me the full cost of the hot tub claiming they purchased parts that can’t be returned and are “at a loss” for their tech’s time coming here. They’ve completely ripped me off and I would not recommend this company to anyone.

To clarify a few key points: weekend service covers the initial visit and diagnosis, which was completed as promised. Once specialized parts were required, return visits were scheduled based on part availability and technician routing. Unfortunately, hot tubs can reveal deeper issues only after repairs begin, which is exactly what happened here.
The parts ordered were specific to your unit and are non-returnable, and our licensed technician’s time across multiple visits was still fully invested. While the repair ultimately could not be completed, significant work was performed, including installing your dishwasher and shower head, which were completed successfully.
We understand the frustration when a repair doesn’t end with the outcome hoped for, but describing this as being “ripped off” ignores the labor, materials, and services already provided. We always strive to be transparent, fair, and solution-oriented, even when the answer isn’t the one a customer wants.

I called Mr. Rooter plumbing due to a sewer back up. The problem seemed resolved, but then about six weeks later, it returned. The crew at Mr. Rooter, came back several times without charge to diagnose the problem, help me work with my town to determine that the problem was on the town end, and ultimately was able to help me resolve everything with no additional cost. The staff were reputable and dedicated to solving the problem and the entire team was very accommodating, providing video footage, etc., for the town to help diagnose the problem. I have no qualms recommending Mr. Rooter Plumbing.

Curious as to why a company not once, not twice but 6 times asked me to right a review. ? There are many reason why someone would elect not to write a review, one being your service was bad. Having said this, I agreed to pay an emergency fee of $200.00. for calling after normal business hours when my basement got flooded during a recent storm. I was not prepared for your tech to arrive and state" nothing I can do to help, I have been going from house to house stating the same" Let me charge you your $200 service fee now" it took longer for me to pay then it did for the lack of service that was performed. Sorry again, I thought you people took advantage to collect some extra dollars, hope it was worth it, as I for one will never call your service again.

Positives and probably worth 5 stars, I had a plumbing emergency (finished basement flooding due to blocked sewer pipe) and they moved appointments around so they could take care of it immediately. The plumber took significant time explaining to me the issue and how I can help prevent it in the future.
Negatives: I got spammed with 10+ emails asking for a review post getting the work done. They were definitely on the more expensive sides.

This store wanted $700 to install a kitchen faucet! I almost fainted and had to ask again. Lowes wanted $200 for the same service and I should have purchased that install package as I has already purchased the faucet at Lowe's. It cost me $65 just to have a Rotorooter service estimator stop and give me that estimate. Very expensive waste of my time. Obscene ripoff company

STAY AWAY FROM MR ROOTER!! Extremly expensive!! Dug hole and changed pipe and charged $6.000. I am sure they will respond to this review with some flowery reason why it cost so much. I was not the person who agreed to use them , however I was the one who got stuck paying. Shop around people. There are some good plumbers out there that would have done this job for half the price. It amazes me how many foolish people there are using their service. I guess they like being riped off!!!!

No, but you are the person who sold someone a house with a broken sewer line.
I had three clogged down spouts on my property,Rooter Plumbing were out in a day or so, gave me a very thorough estimate. Explained everything to me, came back a few days later and spent a couple hours unclogging all of the drains. Very happy with their service. I would definitely recommend them.

I hadn't discovered Mr. Rooter until today, and I am completely happy with the service I received. My kitchen sink had a serious drainage issue. The technician arrived quickly, stayed until all was fixed, was friendly and explained what was wrong and how it would be fixed. Cleaned up before leaving. The charge was very fair. Heavy rain caused water to back up in my basement which has a floating slab floor. Called at 8pm and had an appt by 8:30pm. Austin came at 9am the next day. The water had slowly drained away overnight. He investigated and then cleaned drain going into street storm sewer. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and answered all my questions. Great timely service. Extremely pleased.

Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Rochester did a fantastic job repairing a broken underground drain pipe from my basement sump pump to a storm sewer drain. They were responsive from the time of my first phone call through to the completion of the project.
They scheduled my job quickly, showed up on the date and time of the appointment we made and sent a seasoned professional named Kevin who did a fantastic job diagnosing and then performing the work. I was given a firm quote for the work when Kevin first looked at the scope of work and Mr. Rooter honored that firm quote when the work was completed.

800$ to unclog my pipes and I was left with broken parts. Was quoted over 6k to get the broken parts fixed on top of being promised I would need to spend another 10k elsewhere to prove to the city the clog is their fault. He also told me the issue was NOT solved. After checking it turns out the “plumber” had 20 years of CDL truck driving and nothing on his profile about plumbing. Which figures as his quote for an extra 16k seemed entirely unneeded as I haven’t had a single issue since besides the fact that he was incredibly rough banging pieces to take them apart.
