I own an older home with its fair share of problems, so I knew what I was getting into. Had a leak that had been troubling me for a couple years, the pipe was encased in concrete, making it extremely difficult to locate. Called Stahl Plumbing and Drain, and they came out to take a look.
They had to chip away concrete and open up some walls to track it down, but they found the leak and got it sorted out. While they were here, I also had them address some drain issues. They gave me a solid consultation, snaked the drain, and hydro jetted it. Left everything in good shape.
What really stood out was the communication. The plumber showed me videos of the drain work, kept me updated throughout the day with calls, and explained everything clearly. Plus, he was great with my dog, which always matters to me.
Still have some additional work that needs done down the line, but that's just the reality of an old house. I'll definitely be calling Stahl again when I'm ready for the next project. Highly recommend them.

Aaron did a lot of great work getting my plumbing modernized in my old house where I had corroded old copper pipes and in need of a new drain and tub valve. Stahl Plumbing is very easy to work with and communicates well. I called around some other plumbers in the area and they were real difficult trying to get them to come take a look. Stahl, however, was really responsive and I like how they always give a heads-up via call or text 30 or so minutes before arrival so it's easy to coordinate estimates and work.

We had been dealing with a nightmare sewer backup issue for over TWO WEEKS, and no one could fix it. We were even told we were looking at a $19,000 repair, which felt completely overwhelming.

Very knowledgeable was able to identify the source and provided the resolution of the leak within minutes. These guys were great!. And even wiped up my bathroom floor👍 put my things back in their place before they left 😄 they went to Lowe's and purchased a new toilet for me, installed and got rid of the old toilet, cleaned up! They kept me informed and involved with everything. I wish I would have called Stahl 's first,, they were able to come the next day of calling and quickly identify and fix on the first visit. Excellent service. The plumber and his assistant were courteous and professional. I had frozen pipes, but it turned out there were five leakes. It took an entire half day to finish, but they left it in excellent condition. I have used Stahl before and have always been satisfied.

Hey Bryan! We’re always happy to see a 5-star review and get a few pats on the back —but we think this one might’ve been meant for the other Stahl in town! There are actually two in Pittsburgh: Stahl Plumbing and Drain (us!) and Stahl Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning. Easy mix-up, but we appreciate you stopping by all the same!
JULY 2025: On 7/24, Stahl replaced my Delta shower fixtures since it was broken. Instead of replacing with another Delta, it was replaced with Moen. I didn't mind that much since Moen is also a good brand. Went to use the shower on 7/25, and the tub was filling with water from the tub spout as the shower was running. Scheduled follow-up appt for 7/29. Chris & his apprentice arrived. Chris explained that we may not have been pulling the shower knob up all of the way for the water not to come out of the spout - which, he was correct. I pointed out the unsightly caulk around the tub spout, so he resolved that issue by re-caulking with white. Much better. He also explained about the pressure from the shower head when I asked about that. Once done, he made sure that I was satisfied with the job and made sure all of my questions were answered.
It's hard trying to find good, reliable contractors, but thankfully, once again this year, I am very happy with the service that I have received from Stahl Plumbing and Drain!
MARCH 2025: Called on 3/14 & was told someone could come out on 3/18. Ended up receiving a call back saying they could squeeze me in today. Guys arrived & quickly diagnosed the issue after I explained the problem. They even pointed out how the previous plumber misdiagnosed my issue. Stahl was clear & upfront on the repair work & pricing. They returned on 3/18 to perform the work in less than the time they had originally estimated. I will definitely use Stahl again for any future plumbing needs!!

Aaron from Stahl plumbing and heating replaced a shut off valve and an outside faucet for me. He was working in a tight space but did a wonderful job efficiently and quickly. And everything works -no more leaks. I will definitely call Stahl again if needed.

Dave's great, until Dave isn't. Gave him over $20k worth of business, & then I called for him back for something he did, install of a well pump.
Short version: installed well pump, charged me $4k; pump stopped 3 years later, (better call stahl)was told they didn't do that any more. Had to get someone else, $700 repair, asked Dave to eat it, since the repair was a result of an improper install, was told no. He used a retail pump, charged me almost 4x the price, and $2k for install. Pump just died, replaced with commercial pump from the same well guys, $2k total...as the saying goes, buyer beware.
Hi Tony! About 7 years ago in the middle of winter (November 30, 2018) we installed a new submersible deep well pump, new pipe from the pump to the well head, a new wiring kit, and a new pressure switch for $2300. Everything we installed worked beyond the life of its manufacturer's warranty, and beyond warranty for the labor that it was installed under. The pump we installed was made and designed specifically for the application it was used for. The price of $2300 you were charged was for the pump, the pipe, the wiring, the pressure switch and the emergency service. You agreed to the price, terms, and warranty and signed the invoice stating you were completely satisfied in November of 2018. While its possible that the well contractor you hired since installed a different brand of pump - you live in a house. "Retail" and "commercial" are just buzzwords and are irrelevant to specifications.Why would one need a commercial pump in a residential application? We didn't buy the pump at the dollar store, and there are only so many places to locally source a well pump. Our goal is always to do what's right and to service our clients to the best of our ability, and we're sorry we missed the mark here. We appreciate your feedback and will continue to try to improve.

Has anyone ever had a positive plumbing experience? Well I just did. I recently had a clogged toilet that I could not personally un-clog. Due to my crazy work schedule I only had a small window of time to have someone fix the problem. Dave Stahl (Plumbing and Drain) not only worked with my schedule by coming super early, he had it fixed in nothing flat. Efficient, clean, personable and incredibly reasonable. They will forever be my go to for my plumbing needs! I am so grateful.

Aaron installed new pressure regulator valve, new expansion tank, plus replaced a few faucets and shower heads, removed garbage disposal. He explained everything, did a good job, and is a really good person and sincere. He was respectful and educated us about household systems. Most importantly, he was not dismissive or condescending as some contractors can be. Better Call Stahl, indeed. Thumbs up 👍 ! Scheduling through Amy also excellent. Can say enough good things about Stahl and the owner, David. Came out promptly over the weekend, in the rain, and stayed for hours to fix a major back up in our drains! Floor drain overflowing in basement - I contacted Stahl Plumbing and drain after another company came out and started quoting prices in the thousands of dollars without even taking a look at what was going on. Reception was pleasant, efficient, and was able to get us on the schedule to assess the situation same day. David, the owner, personally came out to make an assessment and didn't even talk about pricing until after he had scoped the line and got an idea of what our system looked like and where the blockage was located. His quote was a fair price, he resolved the issue the same day, and discussed in great detail some future options to prevent the issue from occurring again. I can't say enough good things about not just David's skillset but the way he does business.

We had such a great experience with Stahl Plumbing and Drain. From the moment I called, their team was receptive and extremely professional. Dave took time to come to our house to inspect the issue and explained how he and his team would fix our issues. Dave has such knowledge and really took the time to explain every step along the way.
The entire team was professional, timely, and polite. They conducted their work with the utmost professionalism and truly went above and beyond for our family. We had a large job for them and they kept everything on track and completed in a timely manner. Had a main sewer line with significant grease blockage as the line was over 50 yrs old. A large plumbing company advised replacing the complete line for $16K. I called Stahl and Dave came over, put a camera in the line and advised the line was fine and did not need replaced . He did a flex shaft cleaning and the line is now as good as 50 yrs ago, saving me a lot of money. I would recommend Stahl Plumbing and Drain over any plumbers in Pittsburgh, the job gets done right and at a fair price! 5 stars!

Had a sewer issue and David Stahl was able to quickly get out to my house to address. He thoroughly inspected the issue, solved the problem, and then taught me a variety of ways to prevent the issue from reoccurring.
