I used Guarini for the repair of a leaking water service line. This is not an average plumbing job. It's a minimum 8 hour job, with a team of four or five people. I found Guarini Plumbing after getting an absurd quote from Roto-Rooter for a broken sewer pipe. Guarini was far more affordable and a huge relief to work with. It was great to deal with real people who were honest and straightforward the entire time.
The job took just slightly longer than estimated, and they did not overcharge for the extra time… something that’s rare in plumbing work. Huge shout-out to Rachel, who was helpful and communicative from the first call through completion, even around the holidays.
The crew doing the excavation and pipe work was professional, respectful, and genuinely considerate. They even delayed towing a car parked in a blocked-off area until it was absolutely necessary, which says a lot about how they operate.
Excellent plumbing and sewer repair experience. I’ll be using Guarini for all future plumbing and heating needs and highly recommend them to anyone in the area.

They are a professional company but one that charges through the roof.
We initially asked Guarini for a faucet and valve replacement and they quoted $348 total which was a reasonable price and in line with other plumbers. In the confirmation they then said it was a per-hour price but the job would take roughly an hour, so we went with them due to their good reputation.
On the day of service, they came 20 minutes before scheduled and before a water shutoff could even take place. Water shutoff and restart took another hour or so during which the techs were just on their phones and not even within the unit, nowhere to be found. In all the techs were around for just over 2 hours, and they billed for 3 - they will round up any partial hour they are here, including before the scheudled appointment! So a 1 hour job ended up being billed for 3 hours and in addition they charged a $130 material fee, despite us providing the faucet they installed, well above what is standard. We ended up getting charged about $1100 for "3 hours" of work, or $750 over the initial estimate. Stay away from this company unless you have money to burn.
They also installed the faucet wrong but were quick to respond to a callback to fix this at no charge.

I've been working through a really funky problem in my condo in Downtown JC. Have had dozens of plumbers, HVAC, and others into the unit and nobody has ever seen anything like it. Working with Guarini was the first time I felt like the person actually cared about solving my problem vs. taking my money to do nothing.
They were amazing - got somebody out to take a look and give me an estimate within 24 hours and even called me the next day with some additional ideas to try. I could tell they weren't just trying to make a buck and were so patient about explaining all their thoughts to me. When I suggested trying wild measures, they were honest about whether they thought it'd be worth it. Would 100% bring them in again!
These guys are awesome! Very thorough and reliable, they showed up as promised, and completed the repairs in a timely manner.
I definitely recommend Guarini. Kudos to Robert who quickly responds to questions.
Fernando and Brian made the process of changing out my hot water heater simple and easy! They explained everything to me ahead of time and got the job done quickly and effectively! Such a great experience and such great guys!
Is the worst is the worst company I’ve ever seen
I am extremely dissatisfied with the service provided by this company. Four years ago, they installed a water boiler in my home through Home Depot, and the unit is still under warranty. Recently, I experienced an emergency with the boiler on a Sunday and called the service number listed on the unit. A representative answered, but despite the urgency of my situation, all she did was promise to pass my message along for someone to contact me the next day.
Monday came and went with absolutely no follow-up from the company. I was left stranded and forced to hire another plumber out of pocket to resolve the issue—despite my boiler still being under warranty. This level of neglect and lack of responsiveness is completely unacceptable, especially from a company of this size.
I expected much better support and accountability. I will not be recommending this company to anyone and strongly urge others to be extremely cautious when considering their services.

We had the drainpipe come loose under the kitchen sink. Guarini Plumbing was able to fix it and in the small window of time my wife and I have on weekdays. My wife is a school bus aide, and I am a school bus driver. The garage is an hour away from home. Whatever needs to be done at home on a school day must be done between 10:00 AM and Noon.
THE BEST!! We've been relying on Guarini Plumbing for I don't know how many years. They've been consistently competent, knowledgeable, efficient, fair and friendly. Would not even consider calling anyone else for our plumbing needs.
I recently had my gas water heater replaced through PSE&G and they sent Guarini Plumbing to do the work. I had an overall positive experience and would definitely recommend this company.
They showed up on the scheduled date/time and the price I was quoted was what I was charged. They had to replace an additional pipe that connects to the chimney (which cost me an extra $200+) but another company had also informed I would need to do that so I was ok with it. The installation guys were friendly and the work was completed in less than an hour.
A few hours later I noticed some dripping from the pipe attached to the relief valve which stopped on its own. The next morning I noticed some additional drips and since I didn’t know that was normal I contacted Guarini and they scheduled someone to come between 1pm and 4pm the same day. At 4:30pm no one had shown up so I called them once again and later the same evening 2 different guys showed up. They checked and stated that things were good. They replaced the pipe with a longer one pointing directly in the drain pain (which should have been done initially. The old pipe was short and was dripping outside the pan).
Since then things have been ok, I’ve been monitoring daily and I don’t see additional dripping. In summary, there are some things that can be improved but overall I was happy with the work.
This company secured a major contract from Jersey City to upgrade several water supply lines from led based pipes. This project has been ongoing for the better part of 2 years. They have carried out this project with the finesse and expediency of a hobbled monkey pulling a cart of other hobbled monkeys. The Mario brothers could have done this and saved the princess in half the time. I have never in my life seen such a display of inability in my life. Over the last year, they have been working on the same 6 foot span of plumbing in front of one of the public schools. They have trenched up, filled, trenched again, filled, trenched again, filled, the EXACT SAME SPOT on the street. This is either complete incompetence, or a racket of some sort.

We've had Guarini do a few jobs over the years, mostly on short notice: two water heaters, and repair of a steam radiator boiler system. Every time I've called them I've been honestly surprised by how fast they show up (usually the same day!). Price has always been as good or cheaper than the quotes I've received from other plumbers.
A couple of times when we've had issues after repairs due to our ancient 120 year old house, they've done a followup fix with no cost to us. Each time they've walked us through the issues we're facing and what parts they're replacing, never once pressured us into more costly repairs.
I really do appreciate the work you guys have done for us.

Two workers came to replace my water heater, and with the light of the cellular phone they took a look at the chimney and I was told how lucky I was that the water heater broke because the chimney needed repair, and CO2 fumes were backing into the house. I was told they could install metal pipes into the chimney for about $3,000. I agreed to it for my family’s safety. An appointment was scheduled for two days later at 9:00 am. I didn’t go to work on that day. Since they hadn’t come by 10:00 am on the scheduled day, I called the office only to be told “I’m sorry, we forgot to put you down on our schedule”.Very irresponsible on whoever does the scheduling. I missed a day’s work for nothing. 😡

Quite unprofessional... installer spends 45 seconds inspecting my chimney prior to installing a water heater and advises I need a new chimney liner at $2600. When I ask how he could make that decision so quickly based on seeing the bottom 3 inches of the chimney by the light of his cell phone i get nonsense.... After speaking with the owner after my experience with one of their employees. I am pleased to say that the company does care for the quality and safety of their customers. Proper guidance was given as to what the actual work entails and how we can go about resolving the issue.
Had a horrible experience with one of their employees. They were set out to replace a water heater and were sent through pseg. The first comment from the plumber was do you have a private plummer or they are doing the job. I expressed that's why they were contacted and he continued to state that if they don't do all repairs they won't do the work. I understand things need to be to code but if someone is not informed of what is needed to be done for it to be to code one won't understand. He only kept stating it's expensive and never fully explained the depths of the repair. Which is highly unprofessional also the way he spoke to me was very rude as if i am supposed to know what is the work needed to be done. Also he stated they cant evaluate more until monday which i also expressed to him that i have an autistic child in the home and i needed something done sooner which he said no i have to wait until monday. When my husband arrived his whole demeanor and his tone changed but at that point my husband told him to leave since he heard how he was speaking. And told me to contact the office and pseg again.
I have read good reviews and I hope it was just one bad apple but they need to have there employees speak to people with Professionalism to be able to do proper business.
I was able to speak to after hours team who ensured to have a supervisor call and have another plumber to evaluate and give a proper explanation as what exactly needs to be done.
She is the only reason why I'm able to give 2 stars I really hope my experience tomorrow will be better than what is was today.
Highly upset that I have a family with children and elderly with no hot water for another day now.

We want to replace our HWH and called PSEG and they connected us with Guarini to provide the estimate/installation. Diego came promptly on 1/30/24 to provide a more detailed estimate, and he was incredibly thorough (testing water pressure and checking chimney venting). He provided info in laymen terms and handed me the written estimate. A different company provided an ballpark estimate on 1/29 but didn't do those tests, so we didn't have an accurate idea of the estimate add-ons that they would've stumbled upon. I'm reaching out to Guarini for a revised estimate to change from gas to electric HWH. Like that they have qualified staff on the phone, scheduling, etc. Very happy with Guarini customer service.

My water heater conked out on July 3rd (I guess it wanted its independence early). I contacted PSE&G Worryfree and we scheduled my replacement for July 5th with Guarini Plumbing & Heating. The two technicians, Filipe and Fernando, arrived on time. They assessed the situation and explained what needed to be done to bring the gas, vent, and water connections up to code. Around an hour and a half or so they had completed their work. Filipe and Fernando were polite, cleaned as they worked, and answered all my questions. A highly recommended team! Thanks guys.

Guarini Inc is doing work on a one block stretch of Magnolia Ave. They are replacing the water and sewer mains and replacing each home's water and sewer line from the curb. The crew is nice and when some water was leaking into my basement they quickly found and fixed it. I am grateful for the new lines being replaced at no cost to the homeowners. My only complaint (and knowing that Rome wasn't built in a day) is that they have been at it for 4 months with no end in sight. It is very disruptive to the neighborhood. I don't understand this. Are they being paid per diem?

I live on the street in Jersey City where these guys are working for the past 2 months and believe me they have no idea what they’re doing. They have ruined the whole street, they have dug the whole street I think more than three times because they just don’t know how to fix things the first time. Causing a hell lot of trouble for the residents of the street with dust and noise all day. Now after two months when we finally thought they have completed the job because they completed the road, they dig it again cause guess what, they messed up again! My installers for the day were Ervin and Jeff. These guys were professional and they worked together as a team and did an excellent job. They completed the job in a timely manner and moved on to their next appointment.
I initially asked a lot of questions before scheduling the appointment. The reason for all the questions is because it had been a number of years since I needed a water heater replaced.
I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised to see the quality of work hadn't change throughout all the years with the company. Therefore, I have to strongly recommend this family owned company to anyone requiring their services.

Supervise them every moment of their service, otherwise they just leave you with damages and lots of work.
They left my house with a lot of dirt, not responsible to clean up. The worse part was when they were taking up the old water heater up from the stairs, they broke my stairs and when I told them, they offered me a ridiculous amount which was like insulting us and asked me to claim to PSEG which they already knew they don't take the responsibility either. I trusted PSEG that is supervising these companies!

I then informed you that you are able to file a claim with PSE&G and they would have a adjuster decide a value. The two plumbers who visited, Roy and Peter, were first-rate in diagnosing three separate issues affecting the shower, and they also insulated my hot water heater with an insulation kit that I had previously ordered from Amazon and swapped out the whole-house pressure pump filter for me, as well turning on outdoor faucet fixtures for the season and letting me know what I needed to do to fix a leak in one of the connections.
The only reason this review is three stars and not five is because Guarini Plumbing charges for non-existent time that they do not actually spend on your job. They do let you know when you schedule that the cost will be $200 per hour, but what they never tell you upfront is that even if you have a half hour of time beyond that hour, they will charge you for another full hour, not the actual half an hour. So I was billed $400 for two hours, even though the two plumbers only spent an hour and a half at my residence.
To avoid this from happening to you, either insist on only being billed for time actually spent on your project upfront, not rounded up ... or if they are adamant about not changing what I consider to be an unethical policy and "overlooking" communication about it when scheduling, at least have 1-2 optional smaller maintenance jobs ready that Guarini plumbers can do for you with that remaining half hour, so at least you are getting your money's worth for your considerable investment.

Had a luke-warm at best shower, was quoted from others it would cost up to $1,500 to replace the entire system. Roy & Nick instead went with a much simpler solution, did some manual work, and fixed the issue for $200. Going forward will use them for everything water related.

March 8 will had the 1st floor bathroom shower plate develop a leak and potential basement apt damage. Technicians Fred and T.J. arrived early, using CoVid-19 protocols and safety. They worked out a method where they did not need to break any wall or shower enclosure. This saved time and money. They replaced a 30 yr old Moen system will a diverter plate and newer Delta system, with updated code specs. Fred and T.J. were done in about 2 hours time, leaving the bathroom clean and usable. Job well done.

I had them replace my water heater. They showed up almost on time, were super courteous, and the job quality was great. The negatives - they were many hundreds of dollars over what others charge, and they pushed hard for installing an electric component that was not required per code in my home (later confirmed by the municipal inspection).
